Talk in Lift

"Just five minutes more and I'll be there mom." Today mom wanted her daughter to be back home early, without a clear reason known to me. Already late by thirty minutes, I gave an assurance of returning in next five minutes. The day you want to reach early is the day you have uninvited works in office to do. One never knows what can turn another five minutes into a bigger number. Having reached the entrance gate of the society, I hurried my way to the lift. Eventually there were three well dressed persons, seemingly parents accompanied by their elder son, awaiting for the lift before me. As the lift came, I managed to make my way to one of the front corners of the lift. They too adjusted and the lift door got closed.

I checked my mobile and gave a few responses to important messages. Meanwhile, the boy in the lift spoke up, "Mom you know well, I do love somebody else then what's the need to meet the any other girl? Doing this won't change my mind!" My interest diverted to his untimely words. It felt awkward being the only stranger in the lift with them. I guessed it was related with his marriage that made him to be so restless. His tone had his suppressed emotions. Probably unable to control even for a minute. Promptly the response too came up. "At least you meet her for our sake. And yes! Please behave normal we have already discussed much about it at home.", told aunt with an intense look at him.

In courtesy, she did try to give me a good smile, although it came out to be weirdo. Apart this, uncle remained gentle with his quietness. My mind flashed back to those hindi movie scenes in which the boy was seen giggling enormously without a cause while the girl, sitting opposite to him, blushing foolishly at her best. Thankfully my parents haven't started to discuss about my marriage yet. I hope things won't be such in my case. For a few more days, I believe I am away from those unknown calls and bells of wedding. Thinking of those movie scenes had made me smirk. By the time twelfth floor came up. Fortunately, the opening of the lift door gave me a way out to hide my amusement from them. Taking some quicker steps, I headed straight to my flat. Mom opened the door even before the bell could ring completely. As if she had been aware of my presence outside the door. But before her eyes could meet mine, she looked first at the people coming from my back. She gave them a brighter smile and a welcome gesture. Pretty unaware of the happening, I turned round to have a look. I found them to be the same three persons who entertained me in the lift. The unclear reason of my mom came out to be a clear prank for me. Nevertheless of the mouth opening moment, it was now damn easy to get escaped.
